Stretch It

Aesthetics of Interaction: Course

During the eight weeks I spend learning about the ‘Aesthetics of Interaction’, I have developed a different view on product design, mainly because of the theoretical frameworks introduced during the course. The final deliverable was called ‘Stretch it’, an alarm clock which makes sure two people wake up together to motivate each other in being productive.

The users can set the alarm using a rotation disk that clicks when you turn on hour on the alarm clock screen, this provides the user with inherent feedback. The sides of the alarm clock slowly return to their base form overnight, this provides the users with feedforward so they know how much time they have left to sleep, but also is an compelling, energetic aesthetic to look at. During our process we have used several methodologies, for example experience prototyping, movement based design and interaction relabeling to explore the interactions and functionalities of our alarm clock.
